Initially conceived as a means of promoting cooperative business models and practising bottom-up democratisation in the context of authoritarian environments. Democracy Works turned liquid democracy and other practices into team building and problem-solving workshops for small to medium-sized organisations.
The methodology began by gamifying existing decision-making challenges and then experimenting with different decision making approaches.
It furthermore served as a means to gather and analyse data on voter preferences and practices to help develop democratic tools, including a platform built on then open-source software ‘Bettermeans’ which allowed users to connect ‘issues’ and ‘information’ by drawing ‘synapses’ to create ‘ideas’, which then became digital workspaces.
